I can’t believe that it’s 30 years since Kiss 102 started broadcasting in Manchester. Yes, 30 years since this truly groundbreaking dance music station, that has been copied and emulated many times over the decades, started broadcasting from Portland Street in the city centre.
I started my radio career at Kiss 102 presenting a weekend show on Sunday lunchtimes, which was often quite challenging because I DJ’d at The Haçienda on Saturday nights. But it was immense fun and after covering some of the weekday shows, I soon ended up with my own weekday afternoon show Monday to Friday. Great times!
Kiss soon expanded around the North of England throughout the 90s launching stations in Yorkshire (Kiss 105) and in the North East too.
To celebrate this milestone, there’s a Kiss 102 and Kiss 105 anniversary reunion party in Manchester at Ramona in Manchester on Friday the 22nd of November to celebrate 30 years of Kiss FM in the north. Sadly I’m unable to be there, but it promises to be a superb night with a stellar line-up of DJs who presented shows on Kiss.

I’m very pleased and grateful to the organises at this party because they will be making a donation to my late son Oliver’s Sarcoma UK Fund, so get involved, reminisce in style, see some old friends and faces and support an amazing cause too.
I really do wish I could be there but unfortunately I’ll be out of the country. However I will be thinking of you all as you enjoy yourselves at what promises to be an absolutely wonderful night.
Have fun!
