THANK YOU FOR YOUR VALUED SUPPORT AFTER OUR SON'S PASSING

On behalf of my wife Jen my son Ben and my extended family, I’d like to thank everyone for their wonderful and valued support following the passing of my beautiful and wonderful son Oliver last week. We are heartbroken to have lost a son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.

After a yearlong battle with cancer, our amazingly strong and gorgeous son Oliver left us on the 22nd March 2023. He was such a kind, loving and beautiful soul and we will never understand why he was taken from us far too soon. He had so much more love to offer to this world. He never once got angry, complained, or felt sad. He was a true warrior throughout and fought so hard until the very end. We will love and miss him every single day for the rest of our lives. The power and love we feel from his guiding spirit are all around us and will provide us and his twin brother Ben the strength to carry on. We love and miss Oliver so, so much and even though he’s not here in his physical body, the strength he provides us with, and his loving strong spirit will always be with us. We feel privileged that he shared 18 years of his precious life with us.

Your messages and kind words have been well received and have offered us all some much needed strength and hope at what has been a very difficult time. Friends, colleagues, fans, followers and complete strangers have all been in touch in person, via phone, email and social media offering support and more, and it really has been heartwarming to read all the messages and to listen to everyone who’s called. Thank you too for all the wonderful cards and beautiful flowers

Apologies if I’ve not responded to everyone, but rest assured we all really do appreciate the sentiment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lots of you have offered your support too and asked if there is anything you can do to help. So, after much discussion we’ve decided to set up a Just Giving page in Oliver’s memory which will help raise much needed funds and awareness for Sarcoma UK. After complaining of leg pain over a long period, Oliver was eventually diagnosed as having a malignant nerve sheath tumour that was a type of sarcoma, hence our decision to help Sarcoma UK.

We've chosen to support Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By donating in memory of Oliver, you can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep the specialist Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care. Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community.

If you’d like to support, help or donate then you can visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/parkoliver or scan the QR code below. If you’d like to get involved or organise any fundraising activities yourself or as a group, then please get in touch or visit https://lastinglegacies.sarcoma.org.uk/oliver-park if you would like to raise funds for Oliver’s Sarcoma fund through your own events.

Oliver’s twin brother Ben and I will be DJing at a fundraising event later this year, and we’ll be announcing details in due course. We are also indebted to everyone at The Haçienda for agreeing to support Sarcoma UK at this year’s Haçienda Classical shows too.
