It was great to be back performing in front of live audiences again, even if social distancing protocols were in place and last Bank Holiday weekend I had two gigs.
Firstly, on Friday 28th May, I was in Manchester for the first Haçienda Classical show in 18 months. I was extremely nervous in the run up to the show at Victoria Warehouse but as we rehearsed I realised that all the hard work of recent months had paid off. It was such a thrill seeing everyone from the Manchester Camerata Orchestra, the AMC Gospel Choir, our conductor Tim Crooks, our solo singers Yvonne Shelton, Melanie Williams and Mica Miller as well as Peter Hook. We performed a shorter than usual 60 minute set in front of a small, socially distanced audience and streamed the show online to a global audience too.
If you’d like to watch some behind the scenes footage of the rehearsals, then head over to my IGTV channel.
When we return in August, the show will be much longer and will feature some new songs we haven’t covered before. You can get full details of all of the forthcoming Haçienda Classical shows from my website Gig Guide.
This performance was part of the Haçienda House Party IV livestream event where I also DJ’d and you can listen again to what I played here.
On Sunday 30th May I headed up to the North East to DJ at the To The Manor Born Garden Party at Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield. This outdoor event had a socially distanced audience of 1,000 and the glorious weather Madde for a fantastic day and night. I’ll be back at Hardwick Hall in August for the Hardwick Live Festival and you can get full details of that and all of my forthcoming dates from my website Gig Guide.
