THANK YOU TODMORDEN AND LIVERPOOL

Last weekend was a weekend of contrasts for me as I DJ’d at two totally different but equally wonderful events.

On Friday 28th February I was back in Todmorden to play for Sonic Tonic at the Golden Lion. I played there last October but due to an unexpected power cut we arranged for me to return as soon as possible. This is a very intimate gig in deepest, darkest Lancashire with just a couple of hundred people crammed into a pub that has a kicking sound system. The night is run by former Out In The Sticks DJ Russ and it attracts a wonderful, up-for-it crowd. Just like last October, the place was packed when I arrived and Russ had the place grooving to some cool, laid back house vibes. It was a joy to keep the groove going when I took to the decks and I slowly began to ramp things up before getting the place jumping with an eclectic selection of grooves that everyone loved. I love intimate gigs like this and I absolutely love playing here too, so hopefully I’ll be back before the end of the year.

The following day Saturday 29th February I was at one of my favourite venues in the UK, Camp & Furnace in Liverpool, for a Cream alldayer which was the complete opposite to my my first ever Cream gigs which were the Full On allnighters back in the late 1990s at the original Wolstenholme Square venue. In contrast to the previous night’s intimate gig this huge venue with three rooms was full with well over two thousand people. I was DJing at 6:30pm in my favourite room Furnace, which I’ve played in many times, and I took to the decks after Seb Fontaine. The atmosphere in the room was already great as Seb played some trancey tunes towards the end of his set, but I quickly housed things up with some piano, vocals and acid vibes and the place erupted even more. This is the first Cream night I’ve played in a long time, but hopefully it won’t be so long until the next one. It really was a superb event.
