Last Saturday 2nd November the Liverpool Disco Festival returned to the city’s wonderful Camp & Furnace for the seventh time and I was thrilled to be back.
Before the main event on Saturday 2nd November I took part in a very special LDF evening on Friday 1st November at Constellations in Liverpool to celebrate Keith Haring and the Paradise Garage with me, Danny Krivit from New York and DJ Rahaan from Chicago. There’s currently a wonderful Keith Haring exhibition on at the Tate in Liverpool and with Danny Krivit having played at the Paradise Garage it made complete sense to do this and hats off to the Liverpool Disco Festival organisers for coming up with this wonderful idea and arranging it.
The evening began with an informal conversation that I hosted with Danny and Rahaan before questions from the audience. It really was a fascinating chat, especially listening to Danny talk about New York in the 1980s, Larry Levan and the Paradise Garage.

After our chat it was time for the three of us to DJ with Rahaan kicking things off before Danny Krivit took over with some great 80s disco vibes. I took to the decks after Danny and played a mix of 1980s tunes that I used to play at the Garage club in Nottingham before house music took over with the crowd getting in to great tracks from Hamilton Bohannon, Diana Ross, Talking Heads, Montana Sextet, The Clash, Adeva and more.

The following day was the full-on Liverpool Disco Festival at Camp & Furnace with a stellar line-up that included Nightmares On Wax, John Morales, Todd Terry and more as well as myself, Danny Krivit and DJ Rahaan. I played in the Hustle House & Disco Room at 6pm which is a slot that I absolutely love. The room was filling up when I arrived at around 5pm and Soul Dynamic were doing a great job warming up the ever growing crowd. I kicked my set off with an exclusive Jo Manji remix of classic funk track “Low Rider” by War and dropped big tunes, new tunes and classic tunes by Studio Apartment, Kraze, First Choice, The Vision, Peznt and more. I’m proud to say that it went right off.
