EMBRACE THE NEW MUSIC DOCUMENTARY

On Thursday the 1st November at the Liars Lounge in Manchester I launched the Kickstarter crowd funding campaign for Embrace The New, a music documentary that I’m producing with award-winning documentary director Glenn Hanstock.

At a time when there’s no shortage of music comebacks Embrace The New asks if older artists can stay creative and relevant. It’s widely believed that artists produce their best work while young, but musicians like Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr, Shaun Ryder, Neneh Cherry, Roisin Murphy and others are producing some of the best and most critically acclaimed work of their careers in a world where new music is continually defined by reality TV shows like X-Factor and ageism claims are regularly directed at the music industry.

Early reaction to Embrace The New has been extremely strong and we’ve made a 2-minute trailer that perfectly frames our creative vision. The first teasers, which we recently released across social media, received over 70k views in less than two days with support from our contributors so far including Shaun Ryder, Johnny Marr, Clint Boon, Melanie Williams, Peter Hook and Rowetta. This positive response shows us that this is a film that music fans really want to see.

We’ve already had serious pre-buy and distribution interest from Sky Arts and TVF and our Kickstarter crowd funding campaign to fund production costs to finish Embrace the New is now live.

If you’d like to learn more about Embrace The New and support and pledge, please visit our Kickstarter campaign page for more details and to watch the trailer.
