THIS IS GRAEME PARK: APRIL CONTINUES WITH RHUMBA 24

APRIL CONTINUES WITH RHUMBA 24

After an incredible start to April, the month continues for me with a visit to Scotland this Saturday 11th April for Rhumba 24 at The Ice Factory. But before I tell you about that, I have to mention last weekend which was just superb. On Sunday 5th April  I played for L’America at Clwb Ifor Bach alongside Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson for the Best Of British night. It’s always a great night in Cardiff and this was no exception with a fantastic, up-for-it crowd that stayed until the 4am finish. If you’d like to hear part of my set from L’America featuring classic tracks and remixes from Jocelyn Brown, Soulsearcher, Ruffneck, Ralphi Rosario, Todd Terry, Inner City and others, then check out my latest Graeme Park Radio Show Podcast w/e 11APR15. Last Saturday 4th April  was definitely one of the highlights of the year so far as me and Mike Pickering played together at the FAC51 The Haçienda party at Sankeys in Manchester. The fabulous Tom Wainwright warmed up the main room expertly before Todd Terry took over leaving the crowd hyped up for more as me and Mike took to the decks. The atmosphere was incredible and both Mike and I were struck by how young the crowd were. We played an eclectic selection of house tunes from the past, present and future and you’ll be able to hear our set in the coming weeks as I feature it in my forthcoming weekly shows. Considering that The Haçienda closed in 1997, it’s tremendously encouraging to see a crowd made up almost entirely of people way too young to have ever visited. That’s the power of The Haçienda and our parties at Sankeys are as close as you’ll get to the vibe and atmosphere of the original Haçienda. It warms our hearts that the original spirit of The Haçienda lives on too. When Mike and I used to play together at our weekly Nude night every Friday from 1988 to 1992, we used to play so much new and exciting house tunes and because we now have a new, younger crowd we get to do the same. Of course we do drop the odd classic too, but essentially we’re doing exactly what we did 25 years ago to similar effect. Look out for part of our set in next week’s show.

April continues for me this Saturday 11th April as I head to The Ice Factory in Perth for Rhumba 24, which celebrates 24 years of one Scotland‘s favourite club brands The Rhumba Club. And what a way to celebrate as I’m joined on the decks by Dave Seaman, Slam, Steve Bicknell, Michael Kilkie and more. With the madness of last October‘s Rhumba Club Festival Of House in Dundee still fresh in my mind, I really can’t wait for this one. If you haven’t got a ticket, you’d better act quickly. There might be a few left… maybe. https://www.ticketline.co.uk/order/tickets/13303011/rhumba-24-perth-the-ice-factory-2015-04-11-21-00-00

The rest of April sees me play in Kirkcaldy, Liverpool and Newquay (more about those gigs next time) and you can get more information on these gigs as well as this weekend’s Rhumba 24 party from http://thisisgraempark.com/gigs

Hope you have a great weekend and that I see you on a dancefloor soon.
